As expected, the vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini are now official in China as the latest midrange offerings from the brand. Both phones feature updated designs compared to their predecessors and some key spec upgrades.
vivo S50 gets a slightly smaller 6.59” screen than its predecessor, alongside a more capable Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. The S50 Pro mini retains the compact 6.31” display and also gets a chip upgrade with the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip SoC.
Both new S50 models get AMOLED displays with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panels feature 50MP selfie cameras and an updated ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

Both phones are IP68+IP69 rated against water and dust and feature sizeable 6,500 mAh Si/C batteries with 90W wired charging. The S50 Pro mini gets the added benefit of 40W wireless charging.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 inside the S50 should deliver a noticeable boost over the S30’s SD 7 Gen 4 chip. The S50 Pro mini’s SD 8 Gen 5 should also bring some more oomph over the S30 Pro mini’s Dimensity 9300+. You can configure both S50 members with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
They share similar triple cameras with 50MP main shooter (IMX921), a 50MP telephoto (IMX882) with 3x optical zoom and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Both S50 members boot OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 out of the box.

vivo S50 comes in white, blue, purple and black colors. The baseline 12/256GB trim starts at CNY 2,999 ($425) while the top-end 16/512GB version is CNY 3,599 ($510).

vivo S50 Pro mini is available in white, purple and black. It starts at CNY 3,699 ($524) for the 12/256GB trim and tops out at CNY 4,299 ($609) for the 16/512GB version.
Both phones are up for pre-order from vivo’s official webstore with deliveries scheduled for Friday, December 19.
