Realme GT 7 Pro is going global on November 26, and we already established that it has a leading battery life. However, not everyone will benefit from the 6,500 mAh cell that goes 0 to 50% in 13 minutes – Realme is launching the phone in India with less capacity.
The Amazon listing revealed that GT 7 Pro will have a 5,800 mAh capacity, about 10% less than the original.
We spoke with Realme India representatives, who confirmed that the smaller capacity is real, not some Amazon fluke. When asked about the decision, they simply said this was due to “regulations” but failed to quote what exact regulations they were following.
The lack of a coherent answer means we don’t have an answer to the bigger question: Did Realme simply cap the Si/C dual cell of the GT 7 Pro to play the numbers game, or did it manufacture a cheaper 5,800 mAh Li-Ion cell to keep the price low?
The answer will remain a mystery at least for a couple more days until we see an Indian unit get a teardown, revealing the battery inside.
