OnePlus has unveiled the OnePlus Ace 5 and OnePlus Ace 5 Pro as successors to the Ace 3 and Ace 3 Pro, respectively. OnePlus skipped the number ‘4’ in the name since tetraphobia continues to exist in China. That said, let’s see what OnePlus’ latest Ace series smartphones have to offer.
OnePlus Ace 5 Pro
Let’s talk about the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro first. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship chip, which is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The smartphone comes with up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage onboard and runs Android 15-based ColorOS 15 out of the box.
The OnePlus Ace 5 Pro features “double ice core VC” for 2x faster heat dissipation and a chip air duct design to quickly dissipate heat from the bottom of the chip. Additionally, it comes with a Fengchi Gaming Core (machine translated from Chinese) for native 120 FPS gaming at 1080p resolution. OnePlus also partnered with the folks at Genshin Impact to offer an enhanced gaming experience.
The OnePlus Ace 5 Pro is built around a 6.78″ 120Hz 2780×1264-pixel resolution 8T LTPO AMOLED display protected by Crystal Shield Glass. The screen has a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It also works when your hands are wet or when you are wearing gloves.
Moreover, the display has a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication and a punch-hole for the 16MP selfie camera. Around the back, we have a circular island housing three cameras – 50MP primary (Sony IMX906, OIS), 8MP ultrawide (112° FOV), and 2MP macro. The OnePlus Ace 5 Pro also comes with some AI-powered camera features that let you remove people from the photos and de-glare the images.
Fueling this Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship is a 6,100 mAh silicon carbon battery with 100W charging support. It also supports bypass charging designed for gaming.
The rest of the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro’s highlights include an X-axis linear motor, stereo speakers, multi-functional NFC, IR blaster, and IP65 rating. The smartphone also comes with Wi-Fi 7 and a gaming Wi-Fi chip called G1.
OnePlus Ace 5 Pro’s color options
The OnePlus Ace 5 Pro is offered in purple, black, and white colors, with the third one being a special edition with a ceramic finish.
The smartphone has five memory options – 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB, priced at CNY3,399, CNY3,999, CNY3,699, CNY4,199, and CNY4,699, respectively. The special edition comes in 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB versions, which cost CNY100 more than the regular models.
OnePlus Ace 5
Let’s talk about the OnePlus Ace 5 now, which is the Ace 5 Pro with a different processor, battery, charging speed, and color options. It doesn’t come with the gaming Wi-Fi chip, and the VC cooling system is also different. However, it supports 120 FPS gaming.
The OnePlus Ace 5 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC at the helm and packs a 6,415 mAh silicon carbon battery that draws power through the USB-C at up to 80W.
The Ace 5 comes in titanium, black, and celadon colors, with the celadon model sporting a ceramic finish. And like the Ace 5 Pro, you get the Ace 5 in 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB configurations, priced at CNY2,299, CNY2,799, CNY2,499, CNY2,999, and CNY3,499, respectively.
The OnePlus Ace 5’s ceramic model also comes only in 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB variants, costing CNY100 more than the standard versions.
The OnePlus Ace 5 is on sale in China through Oppo’s online store, while the Ace 5 Pro will be available starting December 31.
