Pantone announced their Color of the Year 2025, and it is called Mocha Mousse. Motorola, as a partner of the color company, announced two of its phones will get a makeover in the new brown paint job.
The devices are the midranger Edge 50 Neo and the foldable Razr 50 Ultra, known in the United States as razr+ 2024. Interestingly enough, the clamshell gets a second Color of the Year in a row, after it was launched in Peach Fuzz, which was last year’s Pantone pick.
Pantone described the color as a “warming brown hue that hints at the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate, and coffee and appeals to our desire for comfort.” Motorola applied the color to devices in two price ranges because it is a “versatile and stylish” option that gives more customers options for “connection, joy, and self-expression.”
The press release doubled down on marketing language and even claimed that the devices “reflect the soft warmth and sensorial nature of color, encouraging users to partake in self-care and life’s simple pleasures.”
The paint job features a soft inlay inspired by coffee grounds. The material of the Edge 50 Neo and Razr 50 Ultra panels will remain the same, but it seems that the Neo will keep the grey Grisaille frame.
Motorola did not provide details on pricing and availability, nor which memory option will get the color (razr+ comes with only 12/256 GB). The company simply said the new version will be available in select markets worldwide.
