Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s First Patch Will Fix One Of The Game’s Biggest Problems

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is getting its first patch this week, and friends, this is about to fix one of the worst things about the latest entry in BioWare’s fantasy RPG series. The studio hasn’t released full patch notes, but it has confirmed the update will address a bug that broke my heart as a long-time fan of the series who had been waiting for this game for ten years.

According to a post on BioWare’s social channels, the patch is coming later this week for all platforms. It will include “bug fixes, minor balance changes, and some crash mitigations.” However, one of the specific bug fixes the studio mentions is one I wrote about just yesterday: At the endgame, the Inquisitor, the protagonist from 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, shows up for the climactic finale. Unfortunately, there was a bug that made their custom appearance revert back to one of the default settings found in the character creator when starting the game. Folks, it was a massive bummer to get to some of those big story moments and not see my old hero as he should look. But hopefully this patch will rectify that issue so no one else has to deal with that when they reach the ending. The short list of some of the patch notes includes:

– Fixed an issue where some customizations were not applied to the Inquisitor correctly in one scene.

– Fixed an issue where DLSS options could end up “grayed-out” on a 40-series Nvidia GPU. (PC only)

– Fixed an issue that caused Companion Skill Points to reset.

Overall, The Veilguard was a mostly polished experience on my end, devoid of the typical BioWare jank. By the time I got to the ending and saw some stranger posing as my Inquisitor, I was taken aback by such a cataclysmic bug rearing its head after nearly 60 hours. So I’m happy to see the team get this fix out so quickly. For more on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, check out Kotaku’s review.
