Yes, we are all waiting for the next action camera with a compact powerhouse in terms of videography specs, the Insta360 Ace Pro 3. The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 was announced in October 2024, featuring 8K video recording capability and a Leica-coengineered lens for optimal output and true color rendering. But, when will the Ace Pro 3 be coming? since the early announcement dates were predicting sometime in late December 2025. Here at TheNewCamera.com, we are compiling all the latest leaks, official announcements, and industry chatter from trusted sources.

Expected Release Date: First Half of 2026

Let’s talk a little bit about history. Insta’s Ace Pro series does have a habit of arriving in the late months of the year. The Ace Pro was announced back on November 2023, and the Ace Pro 2 was announced in October 2024, so everyone was hoping that the Ace Pro 3, based on the previous patterns of the Insta360 Ace Pro series, would arrive sometime between October to November 2025. But this time the landscape has evolved. Before we discuss the exact reason for the delay, let’s discuss what we have achieved so far in 2025 inside the Ace Pro series.

Why has Insta360 Ace Pro 3 been delayed?

  • The company’s December 4 announcement of the Ace Pro 2 SuperMotocross Edition, complete with specialized mounts for off-road cinematic footage, alongside November 12 videography bundles, signals a strong push to extend the Pro 2’s relevance. This mirrors a broader strategy of bolstering current hardware with accessories rather than rushing annual iterations, allowing time for transformative upgrades.
  • Adding to the delay narrative: DJI’s Osmo Action 6, unveiled on November 18, 2025, features a larger 1/1.1-inch square sensor and a variable f/2.0–f/4.0 aperture for superior low-light control, raising the stakes. Yes, they have made a lot of improvements in the hardware part. Having a Bigger Sensor and Better Lens, but failed to score marks in Resolution, still the Action 6 remains limited to 4K recording, although the sensor being used inside the Action 6 is fully capable of recording 8K videos on the go. DJI Action 6 can be considered as a bit of a restored update, and making a clear pathway of upgrade for Action 6 Pro at a higher price point and 8K video recording capability.  Observers argue Insta360 might hold off until early 2026 (potentially Q1/ Q2) to counter with equally ambitious features, avoiding a “me-too” release that could underwhelm.
  • Absence of Perfect Competitor: None of the Action camera makers, including DJI and HERO, has released a TRUE 8K Action camera that can compete against the ACE PRO 2 series offerings. I am not talking about the MAX 2 and OSMO 360, since both of them are 360 cameras, not true action cams. And the Insta360 marketing team will not allow the Ace Pro series to enter into the self-cannibalisation mode. So, without a perfect competitor that at least matches the core specifications/resolution offering of the Ace Pro 2, the announcement of the Ace Pro 3 is completely irrelevant in terms of market situation and competitor offerings.

You’re not talking about any insider reports right now, but based on the market situation, it seems that the Insta360 Ace Pro 3 is not coming anytime soon. It will be released sometime in Q2/Q3 of 2026. An early announcement is only possible when either GoPro or DJI releases an 8K-capable action camera which can directly eat up the existing sales of the Ace Pro 2. Only then will there be a strong chance that Insta360 will release the Ace Pro 3 model; otherwise, they are going to wait for a perfect/true competitor.

Rumored Price: $549–$599 for Flagship Ambition

Leaked pricing holds steady at $499 to $549 for the standalone Ace Pro 3, up from the Pro 2’s $399 launch, and will be justified if the rumours are true and the Ace Pro 3 is coming with sensor leap and pro-grade video tools. For budget action camera hunters, the Pro 2’s current discounts (down to $354) make it a smart interim buy.

Ace Pro 3 Key Specifications: A Leap Toward Pro Cinema Tools

Insta360 and Leica Camera AG have officially extended their strategic partnership. The initial collaboration began in 2020, and the renewal was announced in March 2025. Now, let’s discuss the core specification of the upcoming Insta 360 Ace Pro3 camera,
