Hades II Just Got Its Biggest Update Yet

With Hades II already being bigger than its 2020 predecessor, it’s hard to believe the sequel to Supergiant’s blockbuster action-roguelite is still in Early Access. Well, now there’s even more of the game to explore thanks to the Olympic update. This is the biggest and most exciting patch the game has received yet, adding a new weapon, a new region, and new gods to meet, among other things.

As you may have gathered from the update’s title, the new region is Olympus, the home of the gods. The trailer also shows off new and returning faces such as Athena, Prometheus (voiced by Final Fantasy XVI’s Ben Starr), and a very dressed-down Dionysus. It also introduces the final weapon in the game’s arsenal, Xinth the Black Coat. The new armament looks to turn your playstyle into a combination of fist-forward combat alongside the ability to fire off rockets at enemies. Which is to say it looks badass. Other highlights laid out by Supergiant include two new familiars, more customization at the Crossroads, an expanded story, a world map, and Mac support.

There are also a number of fixes and tweaks to pre-existing aspects of the game. Perhaps the most noteworthy is a change to the Chronos boss fight that will make a lot of people happy. With the Olympic update you can now pause the grueling encounter without having to worry about the titan unpausing it and taking away your brief respite.

Supergiant notes that there is still plenty more to come and that the next major update will most certainly not be the game’s last before a full release. As for when that next major update will be, Supergiant says the team is aiming for early 2025. Until then, you can dig into all the new stuff in the Olympic update.
